Nine contemporary artists from Great Britain, South Africa, Italy, India, USA, Russia, France and Colombia spoke about what music helps them in their creativity. It’s amazing how their musical taste fits into the works that come out of their hands!

Britain artist Ben Aston paints beautiful and scared distorted portraits and listens to ambient, usually The passenger band.

Karla Bosch and jazz improvisations

Vivid and bright landscape painter Karla Bosch from South Africa loves under jazz improvisations of French pianist Jacques Loussier, especially the album «Play Bach №1».

Bassist Kumar and remixes of Eastern Ethnics

Meditative paintings by Indian landscape artist Bassist Kumar create no less meditative tracks. His favorite songs are a remix of Indian Summer by The Doors, Ethiopia by Lokal Affair, Cloisonné by Skerrabra, a remix of Dandini by Azam Ali, Tummetott & Oscar B and Gnossienne, Mujia & Tajo with De Ushuaia A La Quiaca, She came home and Go dugong by Vidita ft. Anna Berezovskaya and modern classics

Anna Marinova and opera arias

The artist from Saint Petersburg Anna Marinova is a continuer of the Russian realistic school and creates incredibly sensual and yet tender portraits of women. Just like the music she listens to. She is inspired by the immortal compositions of Giacomo Puccini, especially Mimi Aria from the opera «Bohema», Kavarradossi from the opera «Tosca» and Calafa from the opera «Turandot», as well as the barcarole from «Hofman Tales» Jacques Offenbach. Also she likes Jamiroquai, Amy Winehouse and MOLOKO.

Marco Melgrati and the Italian beat

Illustrator Marco Melgrati produces caricatures of the mores of modern society, and in his headphones, he plays tracks by The Doors, Sean Price, Salmo and Noyz Narcos. The last two bands are Italian, so we can join the modern musical culture of the artist’s homeland.

Laura Gulshani and old soul

Fashion illustrator Laura Gulshani is inspired by the architecture of Paris and often listens to blues and soul. Her favorite artists are Otis Redding, Fats Domino, Nina Simone, Al Green, Sam Cooke, Gloria Gaynor, Curtis Mayfield, Bill Withers, Marvin Gaye, Earth Wind and Fire, Dorothy Moore и Leon Bridges.

Carlos Delgado and a vivid mix of real music lover

The art of the Colombian artist Carlos Delgado is characterized by genuine expression. He creates abstract portraits that, however, vividly convey the characters’ emotions through color and form. And in the playlist of the artist, there are such different artists as Kenichiro Nishihara and Robert Glasper, Ludovico Einaudi and The Roots, Gustavo Santaolalla and Adrian Berenger.
